Bienvenue to Spring with this Pamplemousse Gin Cocktail

I have a recipe heading your way in a couple days.  In the meantime, I’m preparing to move my family from the Spanish moss-draped beauty of South Carolina’s Lowcountry to the charming heart of Fort Worth, Texas.  So, I feel this particular week calls for a serious drink and I’d wager a bet that most of you could use one as well.  To me, nothing shouts Spring like a refreshing Pamplemousse & Gin Cocktail.  Pamplemousse, a grapefruit French liqueur that’s common to most liquor stores, will brighten your quarantine and your day! I should preface this with a word of caution; these thirst-quenching beauties will be gone before you know it so prepare to make more!  But hey, at least we’re not driving anywhere yet!  So, put on some of your favorite tunes, open the doors to let the smell of blooming flowers roll in and let’s get shakin’!

Serves 2:

  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • 2 ounces of good Gin (I prefer Hendrick’s or The Botanist)
  • 1 ½ ounce Pamplemousse Liqueur (French for Grapefruit – most liquor stores should carry it)
  • A small splash of St. Germain Liqueur (I also like to substitute Chartreuse)
  • 2 sprigs of Thyme

Fill two rocks glasses with ice.  Add additional ice to a cocktail shaker then pour in ingredients.  Shake for as long as it takes to feel like you got your arm workout in for the day.  Strain over iced glasses, add an optional sprig of thyme and serve.
